What Is The History and Origin of Football? (part 1)

Football is a sport loved by many people. It’s undeniable that this is one of the most popular sports today. However, not everyone understands the history of football. So, where does football come from? And what is the history of this sport?

Some people claim that football’s origins date back to 2500 BC. During this time, the Greeks, Egyptians and Chinese seemed to have participated in foot-related games.

Most games include the use of hands, feet, and even sticks to control a ball. The Roman game of Harpastum is a possession-based ball game. In which each side will try to retain a ball for as long as possible. Both of these games are the source for today’s rugby and soccer game formations.

Many people answer the football question from which country? Where does football start? And until now they all mistakenly thought that football came from England. England has long been known as the homeland of football. But, according to many studies, the Chinese invented this game in the 2nd century BC. The game that started in the Han Dynasty was a training exercise for soldiers of that time. The soldiers won the leather ball. They sought to kick the goal made of silk fabric with holes which is the goal today.

Using your hands to support the ball is not allowed, but the player may use feet and other parts of the body to support the ball.

Since then games like football have spread around the world. Many cultures have had activities focusing on the use of their feet, including Japanese Kemari that still maintains that game to this day. Native Americans have Pahsaherman, Aboriginal Australians playing Marn Grook. However, Americans do not love this game much. Maybe it’s because they don’t have any outstanding players, or maybe they have another sport to be passionate about.
