The relationship that lasted for nearly 20 years between Lionel Messi and Barca is coming to an unexpected end with the majority of the fans.
Messi and Barca’s contracts will expire in June 2021. By law, the Argentine superstar has the right to freely negotiate with other clubs without going through Barca from January 2021.
However, in the last days of having legal priority to keep the Argentine superstar, Barca also proved not to be interested.
A few days ago, Interim Chairman Carles Tusquets stressed that it would be better for Barca if they agreed to sell Messi when El Pulga asked to leave at the end of August.
Immediately after announcing the “strip for this viewer”, coach Ronald Koeman immediately posted his disappointment in the press conference preparing for the match with Cadiz.
Tusquets, in an attempt to patch up his misspelled claims, gave an interview with Catalunya Radio.
Finally, Tusquets asserted: “What Messi has to offer to Barca creates the value of the salary he is receiving, but Barca cannot depend on just one player”.
Joseph Bartomeu just resigned not long ago, but right in the middle of waiting for the new presidential election, the turmoil within Barca continued to be exposed after Mr. Tusquets’s statement. Barca’s losses in this volatile 2020 are not new to the media or the public.
But saying Messi’s departure will “make Barca better” is clearly the slap in the efforts of the Barca team that Messi is captain. The Barca squad is now gradually entering orbit when Antoine Griezmann scores regularly, Ousmane Dembele is not injured, Messi shines at the right time and the rise of young stars like Pedri, Trincao or Sergino Dest.
This positivity does not come in a day or two. For nearly three months, coach Koeman has applied steel discipline at the Camp Nou and gradually created fighting power among Barca players. But even in the period that Barca is slowly getting on the way, declaring directly criticizing the leader Messi can create unnecessary conflicts.
Before that, Messi emphasized that he was “tired” for being brought as a reason for all problems in Barca when Griezmann’s uncle said that because of Messi, the French striker could not shine in Barca. When the statement was not yet cooled, Messi was dragged out again as the cause of Barca’s bad financial situation.
It is not clear how Messi will feel when he is stabbed in the back by Barca. However, right now, PSG has shown its ambition to bring El Pulga to the Parc des Princes. Two days ago, Neymar opened an order by stressing himself “want to play next to Messi again” after bringing PSG to win against MU in the Champions League.
